Zamorano Elementary Teacher Recognized by California Art Education Association
Art teacher Don Masse has been named Outstanding Visual Arts Educator of the Year by CAEA

SAN DIEGO (April 16, 2018) – Upon entering the Zamorano Academy of Fine Arts campus, it’s hard not to be struck by the amount of bold and engaging artwork that adorns the classroom buildings. and the exterior walls of the school. Many corners of campus are bursting with color, and much of it is the result of student projects led by art teacher Don Masse.

Masse’s work has recently drawn attention away from the Bay Terraces neighborhood where Zamorano is located; the California Art Education Association recently selected him as Outstanding Visual Arts Educator of the Year.

The CAEA informed Masse of his selection on April 11. “We believe that you have provided exemplary service to the CAEA and to the goals of the arts education profession,” wrote professional awards chairs Sue Conner and Kathleen Faros-Hoeppner. “Your contributions to arts education are greatly appreciated and admired.”

Masse will receive the award later this year at the CAEA’s National Conference on Arts Education, November 9-12 at the Queen Mary in Long Beach.
